I N T E R A C T I V E T E X T I L E L I B R A R Y
This is a project that I am currently finalizing. Since the beginning of the technological era, we are finding ways to integrate technology into our surroundings, interweaving it with our everyday lives. Textiles being a big part of our surroundings present the opportunity to create interfaces that are seamlessly integrated within our environments. This project focuses on creating a physical and digital platform that brings the latest interactive textile developments to the industry for easier implementation of interactive textiles into new products.
THE PHYSICAL LIBRARY
I focused on making one interactive textile collection containing a total of 7 sensing textile samples. Depending on the textile, it can sense pressure, detect touch, and/or gestures.
My design process started from an intuitive approach, which was then complemented, completed, and justified by research papers.
The main fabrication method has been digital embroidery, and composite layers containing conductive fabrics.

THE DIGITAL LIBRARY
The development of the digital platform of the Interactive Textile Library has been developed in different stages. Firstly, the platform requirements were defined. Then wireframes were physically drawn up, which was then translated into a design and wireframes in Adobe XD. Finally, different aesthetics and flows were explored and assessed. The platform has been evaluated together with the client Handmade on 3 different stages throughout the project. Below you can find an impression of what this exploration entailed:
